Sapphire Cruises got two write-ups in the March 2006 issue of Home-Based Travel Agent magazine. The first article, entitled "Home-Based Success: Tales from the Trenches," had this to say about us:
"Party Power - It was on the way back from a jewelry home party that Sapphire Cruises' Sales Manager, Gretchen Palagano (based in Mesa, AZ), got her big idea. "We realized we were a little fish in a big pond," she says. Her solution to being a bigger and better fish was to adopt home parties as a tool to sell cruises. And it's catching on; Sapphire has independent agents signed on from as far away as Maryland."
The article goes on to say:
"Sapphire provides the agent and the host or hostess (the company term for group leader) with a gift-wrapped five point party plan, with each meeting focused on different elements of their trip."
In the magazine's second article mentioning us, "To Market, To Market: Reaching Potential Clients Can Be As Easy as Reaching Out to Your Own Community," Home-Based Travel Agent had this to say about us:
"In the spirit of bringing people together to facilitate travel, Sales Manager Gretchen Palagano at host agency Sapphire Cruises in Mesa, AZ, launched her own home party marketing strategy. The ready-made program, combined with the home environment, makes the pitch non-threatening to the group and easier on the host/leader and the agent."
The articles goes on to say, "As for the plan's success rate, Palagano persuaded a woman who'd never sold travel to try it, and she booked a cruise for a group of 56."
